Hey all! Happy to have you back!
This time around we’re commemorating a cherished team member and friend’s success, Joshua Jackson! His research proposal for the President’s Undergraduate Research Award (PURA) is awarded for this summer. The award distinguishes exemplary initiative and research focus among Georgia Tech’s undergraduates. We’re very proud to see Josh’s work recognized and highlighted, and similarly enthused to discuss his research.
Josh’s proposal, titled the “Effects of visual calibration on auditory spatial perception”, builds on previous research suggesting a possible role of vision in localizing sounds. Humans tend to be exceptionally good at understanding space using our eyes than ears. Josh plans to examine how human observers utilize what they see to accurately calibrate auditory input to the perceived environment.
Josh has certainly stepped to the frontier with spirited courage. We look forward to seeing his research progress in the lab over the summer.
Stay tuned friends, family, and beloved people of Atlanta!
